Assistant Lecturer for American Studies
Office Hours: -

After spending a year as the German Language Fellow at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, I have earned my BA degree from the University of Leipzig in 2009. I was then accepted into ASL's MA program. During the first MA year, I have co-edited ASL's graduate-level journal aspeers 3 (2010). Additionally, I have been one of the organizers of the MA-level graduate conference "American Pornographies: Consumerism, Sensationalism, and Voyeurism in a Global Context" taking place on April 1-2, 2011. I have earned my master's degree in 2012. Afterwards, I was part of the organizing teams for the international symposium "Hemispheric Encounters: The Early United States in a Transnational Perspective" on April 26-27, 2012 as well as for the international symposium "Selling Ethnicity and Race: Consumerism and Representation in 21st-Century America" on November 6-8, 2013.

My research interest focuses on examining notions of gender, bodies, and ethnicity in American literature and culture, especially at their intersections with popular culture. I am currently most interested in exploring Japanese North American literary productions from Hawaii and Canada and their role in shaping Japense American identity at the cultural fringes of America.
