aspeers, the first and currently only peer-reviewed print journal for MA-level scholars of American studies in Europe, has just published its latest issue. Now in its fourteenth year, aspeers is edited as part of ASL’s MA program and aims to showcase the excellent scholarship done in American studies already on the graduate level.

ASL’s Eleonora Ravizza has recently published her dissertation titled Revisiting and Revising the Fifties in Contemporary US Popular Culture: Self-Reflexivity, Melodrama, and Nostalgia in Film and Television. The book was published by J.B. Metzler.

During this winter, the research initiative on “Selbst-Bewusste Erzählungen” completed final touches on a larger project that started with a conference jointly organized by American Studies scholars in Leipzig and Dresden in June 2013: Titled Poetics of Politics: Textuality and Social Relevance in Contemporary American Literature and Culture
