Picador Professorship Extended for Another 4 Years!

ASL is proud to announce that the DAAD has approved its application for a 4-year extension of the Picador Professorship for Literature!

This means that, after 8 years of having a different English-speaking author teach classes at our institute each semester, we are now set for another 8 Picadors to enrich the institute's community with their presence and experiences, to add a vast array of different courses on literature and creative writing to our curriculum, and to contribute to the literary culture of the city of Leipzig.

Jennine Capo Crucet Reads From Her Work

On November 7, 2013, about forty to fifty people came to hear Picador Professor Jennine Capó Crucet read from her work at the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzig. The event was moderated by Ellen Schweda (author and journalist for MDR Figaro).


Picador Seminars by Guillermo Verdecchia


Tuesdays, 1-3 pm, first session on April 22nd.

This course is an introduction to writing for the stage. We will focus on developing a writing practice, analytical skills, and understanding of your individual process. The course will be structured much like a writing workshop with time devoted to practice and discussion. Your interests and questions will inform some of what we cover.
