ASL Holds First Picador Reading

American Studies Leipzig, the DAAD, and the Holtzbrinck Veranstaltungsforum hosted the first Picador reading at the Galerie Pierogi on Thursday night. Picador Professor Tristan Hughes read from two of his novels in the gallery, located in an old industrial complex in Leipzig Plagwitz. Some 50 people attended the reading.

Picador Professorship Inaugurated

The University of Leipzig, the Institute for American Studies, the DAAD, and the Holtzbrinck Veranstaltungsforum inaugurated the new Picador Professorship for Literature in the Alter Senatsaal of the Rektorat on 23 January. The Professorship is housed at the Institute for American Studies.

Tristan Hughes, First Holder of the Picador Professorship for Literature, Arrives in Leipzig

On Wednesday, January 3rd, Tristan Hughes arrived in Leipzig as the first holder of the Picador Professorship for Literature. The acclaimed Canadian-Welsh author will stay in Leipzig for the current semester to teach literature from the perspective of a practicing writer who also holds a PhD in American Literature.
