On May 15, 2012, the current Picador Professor Fiona Maazel read from her new novel Woke Up Lonely at the Centraltheater Leipzig. The novel will be published in the spring of 2013 by Graywolf Press and is, as Maazel writes on her website, “about a cult leader, his ex-wife, and the four people he takes hostage. It’s about loneliness. North Korea. A city under the city of Cincinnati. Labial reconstruction. Cloud seeding.

American Studies Leipzig is honored to announce Fiona Maazel as the holder of the Picador Guest Professorship for Literature in the summer term of 2012.

Fiona Maazel was born in Cleveland in 1975. She received a Master of Arts from William College in 1997 and a Master of Fine Arts from Bennington College in 2002.

Picador Professor Fiona Maazel will be teaching the following seminars in the summer term of 2012.
