aspeers Calls for Contributions by 31 October 2010

aspeers has just published its new Calls for Papers. As of its fourth issue, aspeers will contain both a general and a topical section. The general section will showcase various outstanding academic work done on the MA level of American studies at European universities. The topical section will feature academic and art submissions organized around the theme of “Nature and Technology, Revisited.”

ASL celebrates aspeers 3 release

The third issue of aspeers has been released this Monday, April 19. About 30 people, among them Consul for Public Affairs James Seward of the US Consulate Leipzig, came to celebrate the event. After short speeches by Professor Anne Koenen and the seminar instructor Sebastian M. Herrmann, the editors received certificates documenting their accomplishments, and one of this year’s contributors, Anton Hieke (Halle), came to pick up his personal copy of the journal.

The American Studies Leipzig based graduate journal aspeers has been selected for a special program that makes the first two issues available on amazon.com. The printing company’s decision to offer the volumes over amazon underscores the growing recognition the project is receiving.

Final Call: aspeers still accepts submissions for the 2 (2009) issue on migration and mobility

The Leipzig-based graduate journal aspeers still accepts submissions of student work (both academic and artistic) on the topic of “Migration and Mobility.” The journal is a unique project launched as part of the MA program in 2007. It publishes outstanding work by MA/Magister students in American Studies programs across Europe.

aspeers on Deutschlandfunk

The Deutschlandfunk, Germany’s public radio service, had a report on the American Studies Leipzig project aspeers on the air today. ASL’s aspeers is the first and currently only Graduate Journal for European American Studies. American Studies Leipzig launches aspeers

Today, American Studies Leipzig launched aspeers:emerging voices in american studies, the first—and currently only—graduate journal in American Studies. Opening the release ceremony, institute director Prof. Anne Koenen expressed her pride in the project and thanked the editing students for the outstanding job they did, as well as course instructor Sebastian Herrmann for the effort he put into the project.
