Since last summer, the Erasmus-Program of the European Union offers stipends for internships in Europe. The internships have to be arranged by the students and should be 3 to 12 months long. The Erasmus-Internship-Program at the University of Leipzig is coordinated through the International Office, which encourages students to apply for funding. For more information, please click here.
ASL and the Department of Communication Studies of the University of Leipzig proudly present the exhibit “Power of the Media - Media of Power: The Fight for the White House.” The exhibit will open on April 28, 2008 at 6:30 pm in the humanities building (GWZ, Beethovenstreet 15), room 2.516. The theme is the presidential election in the USA and its portrayal in the media - historically and currently. From April 28 onwards, the exhibit will be shown in the foyer of the humanities building and in the Communication Studies Department (Burgstreet 21, 3. Floor).
Today, American Studies Leipzig launched aspeers:emerging voices in american studies, the first—and currently only—graduate journal in American Studies. Opening the release ceremony, institute director Prof. Anne Koenen expressed her pride in the project and thanked the editing students for the outstanding job they did, as well as course instructor Sebastian Herrmann for the effort he put into the project.
On April 24, 3 pm, American Studies Leipzig will celebrate the first issue of aspeers, Europe’s first and currently only graduate journal in American Studies. The journal has been created during the last semester as part of the American Studies Leipzig MA program. The release of the founding issue marks the end of the first editing cycle.

Students who find their Matrikel-No. on this list need to confirm their registration at the American Studies Institute on 3 April, 8am - 5pm. Please bring along your student id, documentation of the required English skills (you need to give evidence of at least 8 years of instruction, e.g. by your high school diploma, language certificates, etc.), and of completed prerequisites (if applicable).
