American Studies will hold during 10-12 October its second annual orientation program. The American Studies Orientation Week is meant to introduce new students to what is involved with pursuing a degree in American Studies, to help students organize their studies for the coming semester (and beyond), and to introduce new students to the broader American Studies Community in Leipzig.
Led by Professor Hartmut Keil a group of 14 students have started out on a study tour to the City of Houston. You can find more information on this study tour in our section on Field Research. Please also note that the group is having a blog online.
Professor Charles Johanningsmeier from the University of Nebraska-Omaha has been awarded the Fulbright-Leipzig Chair for American Studies for the 2006-2007 academic year. The Fulbright-Leipzig Chair was awarded to the University in Leipzig in 2003 by the German Fulbright Commission for a period of five years.
