At ASL, we always encourage our students to pursue an internship, and include it in your studies. During that process, and after they completed the internship, we asked some students for their advice for future trainees. Here are eight answers you might find helpful for your own decision, finding as well as completing an internship.
For its upcoming special issue, the journal COPAS – Current Objectives of Postgraduate American Studies – calls for papers and creative submissions on the topic of “Reading (in) American Studies.” ASL’s doctoral candidate Mascha Helene Lange is one of the guest editors for this issue. COPAS is an open access, peer-reviewed e-journal dedicated to publishing research by early career Americanists. Please find the full CfP below.

Office Hours during the Semester Break Winter 2021/2022
To keep within the guidelines of social distancing procedures, we cannot offer in-person office hours. To receive a remote consultation, email the instructor you would like to talk to at least 1 hour before the beginning of their office hours to request a callback. In said request, please include your phone number. Some instructors might offer additional remote options (via Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, or other) – please see below.
The course listings may be updated throughout the semester break, so please keep checking back from time to time. We will indicate any significant changes in this news item.

This morning, I scrolled through Instagram and saw a story by our student representatives/FSR Anglistik/Amerikanistik about an internship offer. My first thought was sharing it as internship news with you and my second that internship or job offers can also be found in more unconventional ways. Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or other social networks can be helpful to find what you are looking for, so keep an eye open! If you want to pursue an internship and need help, reach out to me, Pia, your internship coordinator via asl-internship@uni-leipzig.de.
For all matters pertaining to the Exams Office (Prüfungsamt), please make sure to write to the new email address pm-philol@uni-leipzig.de from now on. Currently, Ms. Steinhagen or Ms. Conrad will take care of all exam-related matters for American Studies students.
If you recently sent an email to Alexander Dorn and it has not yet been answered, please send your email again to this new address.
