Please join us for Picador Professor Don Mee Choi’s reading, “War, Resistance, Poetry,” on Wednesday, December 1 at 7pm! Don Mee Choi will read from her books Hardly War and DMZ Colony. The reading will be followed by a conversation with scholar and podcaster Sung Un Gang on writing, translating, and her time as a Picador Guest Professor. She said is a bookstore for queer and female authors in Berlin. They are looking for two interns next year, even if you have no experience in bookselling. So, if you always choose all the literature modules at ASL and know your way around queer literature, feminist theory, poetry, and more, apply by December 10, 2021!

Current Picador guest professor Don Mee Choi has been named as one of the 2021 MacArthur Fellows. The MacArthur Fellowship (sometimes called the MacArthur “Genius grants”) is awared annually to 20-30 people by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation for “extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction.” It is considered oe the most prestigious awards for intellectual and artistic achievement in the United States.
