Dear PGF Enthusiasts,

Out Now: The 2011 Edition of COPAS

COPAS: Current Objectives of Postgraduate American Studies recently published it's 12th volume, which was guest-edited by the Leipzig PGF Team.

CfP: Who's Laughing Now?

Dear PGFers,

here is another non-PGF CfP, which we thought you might be interested. The 10th Annual Students and Graduate Conference at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin will be entitled:

"Who’s laughing now? Humor as Resistance and Oppression in U.S. American Culture."

It will be held at the HU from 10 November to 12 November 2011.

Attached, please find the official CfP.

PGF Regional Groups

Below, please find the clustering of the inaugural PGF Regional Groups!

The idea is that people from the same region of Germany form a group in which to meet and discuss their work. This will not only create more opportunities for academic networking and telling those new to the field about the DGfA and the PGF, but also provide ways of getting and giving feedback from and to other young Americanists in a way that will not be as demanding in terms of time, infrastructure, and money as the annual PGF.

CfP - Obama and the Paradigm Shift

Dear PGFers,

as we have posted non-PGF CfPs here before, we thought you might be interested in this conference on

“Obama and the Paradigm Shift: The Measure of Change in the US and Germany”

which will take place at the University of Giessen from June 30th till July 2nd, 2011.

CfP: American Pornographies

Dear PGFers,

as we have posted non-PGF CfPs here before, we thought you might be interested in the MA-level conference at American Studies Leipzig. While it does not apply to doctoral students or post-docs, it might be a great opportunity for some of your friends or students.

The conference is entitled "American Pornographies" and will be held at ASL on April 1st and April 2nd of 2011. Travel funding is available.

Fulbright American Studies Fellowship Information

From November 5th to November 7th, young scholars from American Studies Leipzig organized the 2010 postgraduate forum of the German Association for American Studies. The conference brought together more than 50 doctoral students and post-docs from over 30 universities.

Being Final

Dear PGF Enthusiasts,

we have now given the final version of the program to the printers. There are no major changes from the last version. But a few details have been modified, and, as always, we wanted you to be up to date.

So attached to this post you can find the newest and final version of the program, a hardcopy of which will, of course, also be in your conference pack.

See you on Friday!
