At the moment, we do not yet know how exactly the upcoming summer semester will take place (digitally, in-person, ‘hybrid,’ etc.). We will provide you with updates on our website as soon as we know more, so please keep checking back.

I’m currently on a one-person study tour through the US to research the ongoing presidential elections. I will post larger, in depth-pieces to American Studies Leipzig’s election blog and will use my personal blog below to report on the everyday encounters. More information on my journey is also available in this news item. Please enjoy reading, and please comment or ask questions.
In the upcoming summer semester 2021, all instruction at ASL will continue to be done remotely, mostly via Zoom and Moodle. We have not made this decision lightly. However, in light of the contingencies imposed by the pandemic, we feel that it is more important for faculty and students to be able to plan the upcoming months. Deciding to do one more fully digital semester, and making this decision now, will allow all of us to better prepare for the road ahead.

To keep within the guidelines of social distancing procedures, we still cannot offer in-person office hours. To receive a remote consultation, email the instructor you would like to talk to at least 1 hour before the beginning of their office hours to request a callback. In said request, please include your phone number. Some instructors might offer additional remote options (via Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, or other) – please see below.
Prof. Dr Katja Kanzler (via Zoom) Please email at least an hour in advance.
