In Retrospect: Round Table with Author & Alumnus Kai Blum

On the afternoon of May 7, American Studies Leipzig alumnus Kai Blum came back for a visit to his alma mater. During a professional round table at the American Studies Institute, the public relations consultant and author, who moved to the USA in 1994, read from his book “Fettnaepchenfuehrer USA.” Afterwards, Blum answered a wide range of student questions concerning living and working in the USA.

In Retrospect: ASAA Professional Roundtable - January 6, 2010

Almost fifteen ASL students used the opportunity to talk to ASL alumni Alexander Munzig (DAAD, Bonn) and Tobias Eikelpasch (Goethe Business School, Frankfurt am Main) during the first professional roundtable of 2010. The event was organized by the American Studies Alumni Association (ASAA) to bring former and current ASL students together to discuss career opportunities.

ASAA and ASL get into the Christmas Spirit

ASL students, staff and alumni as well as James Seward from the US Consulate enjoyed homemade cookies, eggnog and a Christmas Lecture at the ASAA-ASL Christmas Bash this monday, December 7th. About 25 people came to the Villa Tillmans to get into the Christmas spirit together. Part of the event was Alumni Klaus Hückstädt’s lecture Santa Claus goes straight to the ghetto - Christmas in black poular music.

ASAA-ASL Christmas Bash 2009

The annual ASAA-ASL Christmas Bash will take place on December 7th, 2009 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Villa Tillmanns (Wächterstraße). Part of the event will be the Christmas Lecture

On November 4th, the ASAA brought together current and former ASL students for a discussion of career opportunities. Alumni Kirsten Joerss (DHL) and Jan Saeger (Siemens) advised current ASL students concerning career paths in business communication and marketing. The American Studies Alumni Association e.V. invites ASL graduates to the annual graduation ceremony. The event will take place on July 31, from 6 to 8 pm, in the Villa Tillmanns (Wächterstraße 30, 04107 Leipzig). Graduates can bring two people as guests for free.
