American Studies Leipzig cordially invites you to a reading by the current Picador Professor for Literature Shannon Cain on Thursday, 26 May 2011 at the Skala/Schauspiel Leipzig.

Shannon Cain, Arizona-based author of the forthcoming short story collection The Necessity of Certain Behaviors and multiple literary award winner, will read from her current project Tucson, the Novel: An Experiment in Literature and Civil Discours and discuss her work with journalist Julia Kastein (mdr).

The reading is free and open to the general public.

Professor Jan Nordby Gretlund from the University of Southern Denmark, Odense, will give a talk on the contemporary African-American novel, and on the fiction by Percival Everett in particular:

“Mediating Skin Color: From Movies to Novels to Movies.”

The class, which is part of Professor Pisarz-Ramirez’ lecture Multicultural America and the Canon, will be held on Tuesday, 10 May 2011, 9 - 11 am in lecture hall 4.

Townhall Meeting for Students Interested in the MA Program
