Career Center's new program online now

The university’s Career Center has published its program for the upcoming summer  semester. The Career Center offers different workshops and  lectures which gives students, among other things, advice on their future career.They also offer specific classes in which you can improve your soft skills.  For more detailed information on the program, check out their website or see the attachment.

Internship Workshop with Focus on Internships in the U.S.

The internship workshop is designed to help BA and MA students who are interested in completing an internship as part of their studies. In the workshop, students will get advice on how to find an internship and apply for it, how to apply for financial support, how to prepare for an internship, and how to get credits for it.

This term’s special guest will be Ms. Birgit Kämmer from the US Consulate in Leipzig. She will provide information on internship opportunities in the US, visa application, etc.

Scholarships for Internships Abroad - Apply Now

The Carlo-Schmid-Programm in cooperation with the DAAD and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes offers scholarships for students and current graduates planning to do an internship with an international NGO or EU-institution. The DAAD is currently accepting applications; the deadline for the application is March 1, 2012.

Depending on the country in which the internship will take place, students receive a minimum of 650€ and graduates 1000€  per month.

Workshop: Selbstpräsentation in Englisch

The Study Abroad & Internship Roundtable on January 11, 2012

The Study Abroad & Internship Roundtable gives interested students the chance to learn more about study abroad and internships as part of their degree program at ASL. Students, who have either studied at a foreign university or did an internship, will talk about their experiences and answer questions.

"Praxisgespräch" with Amazon for American studies

On January 17, 2012 the university’s Career Center will host a so-called Praxisgespräch with representatives of Amazon from Leipzig. Students get the chance to talk to the representatives and get information on internship and job opportunities. Since Amazon is operating globally, this is an interesting opportunity for students of American studies.
The Career Center has thus reserved a couple of spots for ASL students.

Internship Workshop presented great opportunities for ASL students

On December 7, ASL students attended this semester’s Internship Workshop to hear more about completing an internship as part of their studies. ASL Internship Coordinator Katharina Freitag talked about where to find an internship, possibilities of doing internships abroad, how to get funding, and how to receive credits for internships.

Career Center: Lecture on Possibilities for Working Abroad

On October 25, 2011 the Career Center will host the lecture “Nach dem Studium ins Ausland? Berufschancen und Perspektiven.” Ms. Kerstin Näke from the ZAV Auslandsvermittlung will talk about possibilities for working and living abroad after finishing university. She will also address different strategies to find jobs abroad and how to successfully apply. For more information, visit the Career Center’s website.

American Magazine Is Looking for Writers

The American magazine German Life is currently looking for writers to cover travel, cultural, historical, and genealogical topics (in English) about Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and German America.
