ASL Grad Looking for Marketing Assistant Intern in California

A former ASL student now working in California is currently looking for a native German speaker for an internship as a marketing assistant with the company Accesory Power in Westlake Village/California.

Praxisgespräch with Projecter - Social Media/Online Marketing

The Career Center has still open slots for the Praxisgesgräch with Projecter, a social/online media company located in Leipzig taking place this Wednesday. Students will have the chance to talk to company's representatives who will introduce the company and talk about opportunities for internships/job offerings. The event will take place this Wednesday, May 23rd, from 5:15 pm to7 pm.

Karrierewoche from 7-11 May

From 7-11 May the university's Career Center will host the second "Karrierewoche" for Leipzig students. The Karrierewoche offers different workshops, lectures, events, excursions, and talks with different company representatives. Students can, for instance, listen to lectures on job opportunities in the tourism industry or the Auswärtiges Amt.  The Karrierewoche will mainly take place in the HSG.


Career Center's new program online now

The university's Career Center has published its program for the upcoming summer  semester. The Career Center offers different workshops and  lectures which gives students, among other things, advice on their future career.They also offer specific classes in which you can improve your soft skills.  For more detailed information on the program, check out their website or see the attachment.





Internship Workshop with Focus on Internships in the U.S.

The internship workshop is designed to help BA and MA students who are interested in completing an internship as part of their studies. In the workshop, students will get advice on how to find an internship and apply for it, how to apply for financial support, how to prepare for an internship, and how to get credits for it.

This term’s special guest will be Ms. Birgit Kämmer from the US Consulate in Leipzig. She will provide information on internship opportunities in the US, visa application, etc.

The internship will take place at the GWZ, room 2.516.


Scholarships for Internships Abroad - Apply Now

The Carlo-Schmid-Programm in cooperation with the DAAD and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes offers scholarships for students and current graduates planning to do an internship with an international NGO or EU-institution. The DAAD is currently accepting applications; the deadline for the application is March 1, 2012.

Depending on the country in which the internship will take place, students receive a minimum of 650€ and graduates 1000€  per month.

The Career Center has just announced that there are still open slots left for the workshop “Your Unique selling propositions. Selbstpräsentation in Englisch.”  The workshop will take place this Thursday (January 12) from 9-5 pm at the Career Center (Burgstr. 21) .


The Study Abroad & Internship Roundtable on January 11, 2012

The Study Abroad & Internship Roundtable gives interested students the chance to learn more about study abroad and internships as part of their degree program at ASL. Students, who have either studied at a foreign university or did an internship, will talk about their experiences and answer questions. Afterwards we will have an informal get-together, where students can talk with ASL‘s study abroad advisor Anja Eifert and internship coordinator Katharina Freitag and, of course, other students.

"Praxisgespräch" with Amazon for American studies

On January 17, 2012 the university’s Career Center will host a so-called Praxisgespräch with representatives of Amazon from Leipzig. Students get the chance to talk to the representatives and get information on internship and job opportunities. Since Amazon is operating globally, this is an interesting opportunity for students of American studies.
The Career Center has thus reserved a couple of spots for ASL students.


Internship Workshop presented great opportunities for ASL students

On December 7, ASL students attended this semester's Internship Workshop to hear more about completing an internship as part of their studies. ASL Internship Coordinator Katharina Freitag talked about where to find an internship, possibilities of doing internships abroad, how to get funding, and how to receive credits for internships.
