Picador Professor John Haskell in Kreuzer logbuch

Picador Professor John Haskell wrote a piece for the Buchmessenbeilage of Leipzig’s Kreuzer. The piece is part of a new series “Mein Leipzig,” Haskell’s text appeared together with contributions by You-Il Kang, Clemens Meyer, and Fritz Rudolf Fries.
John Haskell was Leipzig’s 2007/08 Picador Professor for Literature.

Picador Professor John Haskell reads in Grassi Museum

On Thursday, Picador Professor John Haskell read from his short story collection “I Am Not Jackson Pollock” in the GRASSI Museum in Leipzig. In a room packed with approximately 80 people, the audience listened to his performance, followed by a German translation read by former ASL student and actor Alexander Munzig.

Picador Professor John Haskell Reads on 24 January

Picador Guest Professor John Haskell will read from his collection I Am Not Jackson Pollock on Thursday, January 24, 2008, 7pm in the GRASSI Ethnographic Museum. Admission is 2,00 Euro (for students, otherwise 4,00) and covers the exhibition Island People / Inselmenschen of works by the German Photographer Ulrich Mack. The reading will be bilingual in English and German and is co-sponsored by the United States Consulate in Leipzig.

Picador Reading by John Haskell

The Veranstaltungsforum der Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck and American Studies Leipzig jointly hosted the third Picador Professorship Reading in the Galerie Pierogi on Thursday, November 22. In the gallery packed with over 90 guests, Picador Professor and novelist John Haskell read from his acclaimed novel American Purgatorio. The reading was complemented by actor Günter Schossböck reading excerpts from the German translation Amerikanisches Fegefeuer.

Picador Professor John Haskell Reads on Nov 22

American Studies Leipzig cordially invites you to join the Picador Guest Professor John Haskell’s public reading on 22 November, 8pm, at Galerie Pierogi.

On 22 November, 2007, 8pm, John Haskell will read from his novel “American Purgatorio” at the Galerie Pierogi, Spinnereistraße 7, Halle 10, 04179 Leipzig. He will be accompanied by the German actor Günter Schossböck (Schauspiel Leipzig) who will read from the German translation “Amerikanisches Fegefeuer.” The reading will be accompanied by live DJ music (DJ Haircut, Ilses Erika).
