Second-Year BA Modules Offered in the Summer Semester

Dear Students,

We wanted to update you on the 2nd-year BA modules we will be offering in the upcoming summer term. As we are working to consolidate the program and its teaching load, starting with this semester, we will not be offering the module The Anglo-American World in a Global Context anymore but will instead increase the thematic variety in other modules. Blog Post on the Use of Native American Symbolism in the US Capitol Riots on Jan. 6

Former American Studies Leipzig faculty member Dr. Frank Usbeck has written a post for the SKD blog on the use of native American symbolism by far-right, pro-Trump rioters at the US capitol in January. During his time at ASL, Usbeck had worked extensively on the appropriation of native American culture in the formation of German nationalism during the 19th century, and on how this fed into Nazi ideology and anti-American propaganda in the early 20th century.

Beschluß des Prüfungsausschuß Amerikanistik vom 19.01.2021

Gemäß der Manteländerungssatzung zur Flexibilisierung der Prüfungs- und Studienordnungen der Philologischen Fakultät  stellt der Prüfungsausschuß Amerikanistik die Nichtdurchführbarkeit von Präsenzprüfungen im Rahmen des BA-Studiengangs Amerikanistik fest. Daher werden für diese Prüfungen alternative Prüfungsformen gefunden.
