Please join us for Picador Professor Sheila Heti’s reading, “Mermaids, Stories and Sex” on Wednesday, May 19, 7pm! Sheila Heti will read from her books, The Middle Stories and How Should A Person Be? The reading will be followed by a conversation with journalist Teresa Bücker about writing, her time as a Picador Guest Professor, online seminars, sex, and feminism. Ira Glasser war fast drei Jahrzehnte Direktor der American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) und hat sich mit spektakulären Gerichtsverfahren im Kampf um die Bürgerrechte in den USA einen Namen gemacht.

Bei der Veranstaltung geht es unter anderem um die Rolle der Misinformation und »Hatespeech« im Internet, ob die Rechte derer verteidigt werden sollte, die sich für antidemokratische Systeme und Politiken aussprechen und um die sogenannte »Cancel Culture«. Themen also, die den Kern unseres Zusammenlebens in einer digitalisierten, globalisierten Welt treffen.
