Photo Exhibition and Movie Premiere: Study Tour Houston

Study Tour Houston: “Volunteerism, Diversity, and Civic Engagement”

American Studies Leipzig will celebrate the inauguration of a photo exhibition and premiere of a documentary movie on Wednesday, June 6th, 5:30 pm.

Exhibition and movie both document the American Studies Leipzig study tour “Volunteerism, Diversity, and Civic Engagement”. In October 2006, fifteen ASL students visited Houston in Texas. The study tour included several meetings with universities, churches, political parties, different citizen interest groups and representatives of the city of Houston. Major themes of the study tour were civic engagement and local participation – especially with a focus on Houston’s response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Texas.

The movie will premier in the GWZ Lecture Hall (ground floor of the GWZ Geisteswissenschaftliches Zentrum, Beethovenstraße 15) with a reception starting at 5.30pm. Reception and Movie Premiere are open to the general public.

The photo exhibition will be on display June 6th to June 15th in the GWZ Foyer.
