First Picador Roundtable Held at Villa Tillmanns

American Studies held the first Picador Professor Roundtable at Villa Tillmanns on Wednesday evening. The Roundtable is meant to offer students and other members of the university community an opportunity to exchange ideas about literature and culture with the current Picador Professor in an informal and relaxed setting. The theme for this roundtable was “Literatures, Cultures, and National Identities”. Some twenty-five students joined Picador Professor Tristan Hughes in a diverse discussion about American literature and society, the role of literature for small nations like Wales, and the dynamics of European identity construction. The roundtable was followed by a reception where students could continue the conversation with Tristan Hughes.
