ASL Open House Well Visited

Some 40-50 students from high schools around Saxony and the Mitteldeutschland region came to the American Studies Open House yesterday to talk about the program with students and faculty of American Studies Leipzig.

Students came to wander through the American Studies Leipzig exhibition, browse through the institute’s web page on two computers set up for this purpose, or to talk to faculty about the program. Most of them were fascinated by the program’s interdisciplinarity and the unique combination of skill development and global scope. As it turned out, a high number of students interested in pursuing American Studies has already been to the United States as part of their high school education.

Students showed a strong interest in employability, i.e., the job opportunities available after graduating in American Studies, a question also extensively addressed by the American Studies Leipzig exhibition and this web page.
