American Studies Welcomes the BA Class of 2007

The American Studies Leipzig BA Class of 2007 consists of 45 students from around Germany and the world. Almost two-thirds of the entering class has already spent substantial time (e.g. high school year, au-pair experience) in the United States. Their reasons for pursuing American Studies are diverse, ranging from being fascinated by the USA generally, to being a fan of its contemporary popular culture, to wanting to further a better German-American dialog.

The BA Class of 2007 settled into the program with the annual Student Orientation Week (SOW) that introduced them to the program and the American Studies Community in Leipzig. The new BA students visited the US Consulate General and explored the university library. Furthermore, they received information on study abroad possibilities, and absolved a photo shooting. At the same time, SOW helped the freshmen to get to know each other. A Scavenger Hunt through Leipzig with a rich bounty of prizes and a BBQ provided the right atmosphere for that.
