ASL Participates in Foreign Ministry Conference

“Inspiring People: Culture and Education in German Foreign Policy”

American Studies Leipzig participated in a major conference held by the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin on 26 October on the subject of “Inspiring People: Culture and Education in German Foreign Policy”. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, opened the conference with a detailed speech about what should be the goals and role of a country’s cultural and educational foreign policy, especially in the case of Germany. Participants then broke out into working groups, and reported their findings in a penultimate session. American Studies participated in the working group entitled, “Worldwide Networks: Building Sustainable Cooperation in Education and Scholarship”.
