The Frank Freidel Memorial Library is an outstanding, largely open-stack library for students and scholars. The initial collection was put together in 1997 with the generous donation of several thousand volumes, especially on the New Deal, by the Freidel family. Since then, a steady flow of donations and new acquisitions has followed so that today the Frank Freidel Memorial Library exists as an outstanding resource for students and scholars, which still continues to expand. As of 2007, the American Studies Leipzig Residency Program allows scholars enjoy the unique resources of the Freidel Library.
