The seminar “American Dream” offered by Catherine Sharpe as part of the Lehramt module “The Contemporary United States” will take place in NSG 302. Class starts on April 16.

The Centre for Area Studies at the University of Leipzig is offering a blockseminar by American sociologist Sandra Hanson in April and May 2012. Students of American studies who are interested in participating in the seminar are invited to apply via e-mail to Dr. Victoria Reinhardt (gs@uni-leipzig.de). The seminar will take place from April 18 to May 10 at HSG 17. Please see the below course description for further details.

Please note that Professor Koenen’s classes will start in the week of April 16. Hence,

• the lecture “The Canon and Popular Culture” (module Literature & Culture II) will start on April 17;
• the seminar “(Post)Modernism: William Faulkner and Toni Morrison” (module Difference and Literature) will start on April 17; and
• the seminar “Fiction and Politics” (module Political Cultures in a Transatlantic Context) will start on April 19.
