Picador Professor Rajesh Parameswaran Reads from His Work

On May 3, Rajesh Parameswaran, the current Picador Guest Professor for Literature, read from his work at the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst. Parameswaran read excerpts from two short stories of his collection I Am an Executioner: Love Stories and discussed his work with American Studies Leipzig's Stefan Schubert. Among other topics, Parameswaran provided insights on his specific approach to writing, how his biography has shaped his craft, and on where he would locate himself as an author. After their talk, questions from the audience focused particularly on Parameswaran's writing process, the readership he has in mind when writing, and any tips he might have for aspiring writers.

The event was attended by about forty people, made up of students and the wider Leipzig public, many of whom stayed after the reading for some drinks and snacks to continue the conversation about literature and related topics.
