ASL Celebrates Sixth Issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies

On April 24, 2013, American Studies Leipzig celebrated the release of the sixth issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies. The new issue is dedicated to “American Memories,” featuring four academic articles, seven pieces of art, and an interview with Monica Michelin from the Sorbonne. The published contributions came from six different countries (USA, France, Germany, the UK, Canada and Poland), but submissions were sent in from many more countries.

With eleven MA students, the editorial team for aspeers 6 was the largest in the journal’s history. This year’s issue was put together by Ewa A. Adamkiewicz, Richard A. Bachmann, Elisabeth Böhme, Eric W. Fraunholz, Katharina Gensch, Wiebke Kartheus, Theresia Lakomy, Erica L. Larson, Martin Opitz, Sören Schoppmeier, and Tyrone Thomas White, Jr.

The participation in the aspeers-project is part of the American Studies Leipzig’s MA program. The students select contributions, revise them in cooperation with the authors, edit them, and make them ready for publication. For aspeers 6, the editorial team was supported by general editor Florian Bast, editorial assistant Stefan Schubert, as well as supervising editors Alexandra Hähnert and Máté Vince Horváth.

The new aspeers issue will be available online in the next couple of days under aspeers.com.
