Enroling for your major (Kernfachmodule)

First-year BA Students (Class of 2009):

In the upcoming semester, you will attend Literature & Culture I and iTASK as compulsory modules. Students are guaranteed a place in these modules. In the Literature & Culture I module you may choose between the parallel groups offered for the modules’ seminars and tutorials (Übungen).

Both registration for LCI/ iTASK courses and registration for Wahlbereich and Professional Skills Modules (SQM) will be taken care of during the Student Orientation Days.

Second-year BA Students (Class of 2008):

You may attend Society, History, and Politics II and/or Language & Society - Applied Linguistics. Please keep in mind that the Prüfungsordnung asks you to attend three out of the four core elective modules (Wahlpflichtmodule) offered in the course of the program’s second year. However, you are free to attend all four core electives and use the extra module to replace one Wahlbereich module. In case you want to have one of these modules count toward your Wahlbereich, please use the TOOL to apply for it!

For enrolment in the modules as Kernfach modules, you are asked to write an email to asl-enrolment@uni-leipzig.de between September 30 and October 6. As subject-header, please use “2nd year BA”; in the body of your mail, please give

  • your name and student ID number
  • the titles of the American Studies modules in which you wish to enrol (SHP II and/or LS)
  • (for the SHP II module (if applicable) the seminars which you would like to attend. Preferences will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis.)

Third-year BA students (class of 2007):

You will attend the Project Module as a compulsory module. You are guaranteed a place in this module and therefore a place in one of the parallel colloquia offered. However, since each colloquium can admit only a limited number of students, you must apply for the colloquium you prefer to attend. To apply, please write an email to asl-enrolment@uni-leipzig.de on September 30 from 9am (earlier emails will be ignored). As subject-header for your email, please use “3rd year BA”; in the body of your mail, please indicate
