Picador Professor Tom Drury Discusses and Reads from His Novels

On May 2, current Picador Professor Tom Drury read a selection from his extensive 'Midwest trilogy' encompassing his novels The End of VandalismHunts in Dreams, and his most recent book, Pacific. The reading was held at the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, in cooperation with Klett-Cotta and the Holtzbrinck Veranstaltungsforum. The reading saw up to 50 guests in attendance and was moderated by the director of the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig University, Prof. Crister S. Garrett.

Throughout the evening, Tom Drury discussed the state of politics in the US at the time of the Trump presidency and its impact on the Midwestern states, as well as his writing process.

In the Q&A after the reading, the audience and Mr. Drury engaged in a lively discussion, followed by a small reception during which guests and Mr. Drury exchanged further thoughts on contemporary US literature, culture, and politics over refreshments.
