ASL Welcomes Visiting Author Dong Li

American Studies Leipzig is very happy to welcome Humboldt Fellow Dong Li as a visiting author for 2016. The poet and translator holds an M.F.A. in Literary Arts from Brown University and is currently a German Chancellor Fellow with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and a Literature Fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart).

At Brown, Li taught poetry workshops and worked as translator, research associate, and university tutor between 2008 and 2013. After a one-year Olive B. O'Connor Fellowship in Creative Writing at Colgate University, he served as Asymptote journal's Editor-at-Large for China before coming to Bonn, Berlin, and Leipzig as a German Chancellor Fellow in 2015. His poetry, essays and translations have been published in magazines such as Kenyon Review, Conjunctions, Quarterly West, Poor Claudia, World Literature Today, Guernica, and PEN America. His work has been translated into German and appeared in manuskripte.

During his time as a Humboldt Fellow at American Studies Leipzig, Dong plans to pursue projects involving translations between contemporary American, Chinese, and German voices exploring the relationship between lanaguage, culture, and politics.
