DAAD Transatlantic Scholarships for American Studies Second-Year Students

The German Academic Exchange Service has awarded the Institute for American Studies a multi-year grant with which to provide selected second-year BA American Studies students with a generous scholarship to study at Ohio University.

The scholarship will cover tuition, health insurance, air travel, and provide a sizable living stipend.

To apply, American Studies students must be in their second year of the BA American Studies program.

The scholarship allows students to pursue a BA American Studies with Transatlantic Capstone Program and Project Year. Students will be enrolled for two terms at Ohio University and take courses in International Studies while also pursuing an international project at the University’s award-winning Global Leadership Center. An internship will also be integrated into the program at Ohio University.

There will be a townhall meeting on Friday, 4 June, at 1PM (Room: GWZ 2516, i.e., American Studies Seminar Room) to present the new program and to answer questions about applying for the DAAD Transatlantic Scholarships. For the academic year 2010-2011, two scholarships will be awarded.

Applications are due on Friday, 18 June, by 5 PM, in the mailbox of Professor Crister Garrett. The application will involve a transcript of grades and a short essay. Further details of the application process will be announced on Friday, 4 June. The application process will also be presented at the 4 June townhall meeting.
