ASL celebrates aspeers 3 release

The third issue of aspeers has been released this Monday, April 19. About 30 people, among them Consul for Public Affairs James Seward of the US Consulate Leipzig, came to celebrate the event. After short speeches by Professor Anne Koenen and the seminar instructor Sebastian M. Herrmann, the editors received certificates documenting their accomplishments, and one of this year’s contributors, Anton Hieke (Halle), came to pick up his personal copy of the journal. aspeers: emerging voices in american studies, is Europe’s first and currently only graduate-level peer-reviewed journal in American studies. The publication project is part of American Studies Leipzig’s MA program. This third issue was jointly supported by the US Consulate Leipzig and the American Studies Alumni Association (ASAA).

Over the course of the last semester, an editing team of eight MA students has worked to select contributions, revise them together with the authors, edit them, and make them ready for publication. This third, 120-page issue is organized around the topic of Crime and America. It contains three academic papers by students and five creative contributions from around the world, as well as an interview with Professor Alfred Hornung of Mainz University.
