19 May: ASLAA e.V. Hosts Online-Roundtable on "Pursuing a PhD in American Studies"

ASLAA e.V. would like to invite you to its very first online roundtable titled “Pursuing a PhD in American Studies.” Are you thinking about taking your studies further than your M.A. degree? Maybe you’re not sure whether that’s the right path for you? Is it possible to work while completing a PhD? What scholarship opportunities are there? These are all important questions to consider when thinking about completing a dissertation. Our roundtable aims to support your thought process by having our guests give insights into what drove their decision to pursue a PhD in American Studies. We will discuss funding opportunities, day-to-day life, as well as opportunities after finishing a PhD. At the end, all roundtable participants are encouraged to ask any further questions they might have. We look forward to seeing you virtually!

Our guests will be:

Annika Schadewaldt, Assistant Lecturer for American Studies and PhD Candidate at the University of Leipzig

Deniz Bozkurt, PhD Candidate at the University of Leipzig and recently submitted her dissertation manuscript titled “Imagining Southern Spaces: Hemispheric and Transatlantic Souths in Antebellum US Writings”

Dr. Stefan Schubert, Assistant Lecturer for American Studies at the University of Leipzig

Date and Time: Tuesday, 19 May 2020 from 6.30 - 8.00 PM

The online roundtable will be held in English and will take place via Zoom. To attend, please sign up at info@aslaa.de until Sunday, 17 May 2020 at 8 PM. We will send you the meeting link the day of the roundtable.
