Both of Hilary Leichter’s classes will take place in room 3515 (GWZ, Beethovenstr. 15, “Glaskasten”). You can find the room by going up to the fifth floor and walking down the hallway across the elevators, left of the letter boxes.

As part of her tenure in the summer term of 2022, Picador Professor Hilary Leichter will teach two classes at American Studies Leipzig.

Current Picador guest professor Don Mee Choi has been named as one of the 2021 MacArthur Fellows. The MacArthur Fellowship (sometimes called the MacArthur “Genius grants”) is awared annually to 20-30 people by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation for “extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction.” It is considered oe the most prestigious awards for intellectual and artistic achievement in the United States.

Professor for Literature. She will hold the professorship in the winter term of 2021/22.
For participants of last winter’s Literature and Culture I module who have failed the overall module (i.e., your module grade is 5,0), you may redo those parts of the module exam that were graded 5,0. The instructions for the repeat take-home essay will be uploaded to Moodle on May 21; the essay will be due on June 6 at 11 am.
Please join us for Picador Professor Sheila Heti’s reading, “Mermaids, Stories and Sex” on Wednesday, May 19, 7pm! Sheila Heti will read from her books, The Middle Stories and How Should A Person Be? The reading will be followed by a conversation with journalist Teresa Bücker about writing, her time as a Picador Guest Professor, online seminars, sex, and feminism. The event will be held in English and streamed on YouTube (please click here).
