Second Teacher's Workshop was a Great Success

Submitted by Eric W. Fraunholz on Tue, 12/09/2014 - 12:04

On December 4, 2014, American Studies Leipzig held its second workshop for teachers in Saxony. (click here, for information on the first workshop)

40 teachers from all over Saxony gathered to freshen up their knowledge about current dynamics of globalization and the ongoing debate of immigration and growing diversity in the US. The workshop was conducted jointly by Prof. Crister Garrett, Prof. Gabriele Pisarz-Ramirez, and Prof. Hartmut Keil.

The aim of this workshop was to integrate the growing importance of American topics into the class room.

This pursuit was also reflected in the special workshop at the end of the event with our LaborUni project "Teaching America." Project Coordinator, Anne Grob, gave a 45 minute talk on the importance of new media and, again, American topics in the class room. Thus, she presented the portal "Teaching America" and some of the new media class material that was specifically produced in the course of the last two semesters with MA Lehramt students.
