Jennine Capo Crucet Reads From Her Work

Submitted by Eric W. Fraunholz on Tue, 03/04/2014 - 12:12

On November 7, 2013, about forty to fifty people came to hear Picador Professor Jennine Capó Crucet read from her work at the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzig. The event was moderated by Ellen Schweda (author and journalist for MDR Figaro). Jennine Capó Crucet read from her novel-in-progress Magic City Relic and her award winning short story collection How to Leave Hialeah (awarded the Iowa Short Fiction Prize, the John Gardner Book Award, the Devil's Kitchen Reading Award; and listed as Best Book of the Year by the Miami Herald, the Miami New Times, and the Latinidad List).

Jennine Capó Crucet's lively, humorous, and yet thoughtful nature was perfectly reflected in both her work and the way she presented it. The audience listened with exitement and fascination to Crucet's work. You can find some impressions and reactions to the reading in the video attached.
