Submitted by Eric W. Fraunholz on Thu, 05/29/2014 - 14:59

On Wednesday, 28 May 2014, Prof. emer. Guy Stern gave a talk on "Memory, Remembering, and the Holocaust."

In his talk he shared several anectodes about his remarkable life.

With his early youth as a young German Jew during the 1920s and 1930s, his turbulent voyage to the US as a teenager, his journey back to Europe as an American soldier during WWII, and his notable career as a scholar in both the US and Europe, Prof. Stern showed not only how the American experience but especially a vivid transatlantic exchange can fundamentally reshape identities and open up new perspectives.

With his thoroughly positive attitude towards life and his remarkable gift to capture the audience's imagination, Prof. Stern's talk was defintely a memorable experience for everyone.
