Picador Professor Justin Torres Read from His Novel

On May 17, Picador Professor Justin Torres held a reading together with Samuel Fischer Guest Professor Teresa Präauer. Moderated by journalist Stefan Mesch, the event was titled "Tiere und andere Vögel: Eine wilde Lesung," and took place at Schaubühne Lindenfels.


ASL's Eric Fraunholz to Participate in 2016 Fulbright American Studies Institute

ASL instructor and doctoral candidate Eric Fraunholz has been selected as a 2016 Fulbright American Studies Institute fellow. Endowed with a full scholarship, he will participate in this year's two-week seminar titled “Why Black Lives Matter: Race and Politics in the U.S.” The summer school will be held at San Francisco State University. Asked about his thoughts on this opportunity, Mr. Fraunholz stated:


Verstehen wir die Amerikaner? Lecture and Discussion

On Thursday, May 19, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the US Consulate General will host a lecture and discussion titled "Verstehen wir die Amerikaner? - Werte, Einstellungen und Überzeugungen".

Dr. Christoph von Marschall, diplomatic correspondent at "Tagesspiegel", will talk about the topic based on his long-term experience in the US. An open Q&A will follow the lecture.

Deutschlandfunk's morning reporter Christiane Kaess spoke with American Studies' Crister S. Garrett about the meaning of the Iowa caucuses for the remaining primaries, and as a barometer of the political mood in th United States currently.
