What's this all about?
With the new American Studies Leipzig homepage, you can create a personal login for yourself. This login enables you to post comments and will give you even more opportunities as we continue to refine the page over the next couple of weeks and months.
Can I cancel my user account at any time?
Yes. Simply go to My Account -> Edit and hit the delete button. One more click and you're out and will not be contacted again. Your account information will be deleted. However, your comments (and possibly other public content you created) will remain visible.
Who can get a user account?
We welcome anybody to create an account with the American Studies Leipzig homepage. Having an account allows you to post comments on most blog items. Other services (such as the upcoming ASL Praktikumsbörse) will require additional registration procedures.
What happens to my data?
Your data will not be shared with outsiders. Content you create (such as comments on blog posts) will be visible to anybody. But your personal information (such as your email address) will not be made public. If you do not want to have your real name publicly visible, choose a screen name / alias as your login above. Your contributions will be signed using your username above.
So, what about my real name?
If you decide not to use your real name as your username, we suggest you enter your real name below. Access to some services (services that we offer only to currently enrolled students) will be limited to users who have entered their real name and have identified themselves in Real Life. For example, under our current policy, only users identified by their real name can become trusted users (who can post comments without moderator approval). So, we suggest you enter your real name either as your username above, or in the "real name" field below.
Why can't I just login with my lehrbox / my Uni Leipzig Id?
We know that having all your services tied to one set of credentials would make life a lot easier for you. Unfortunately, implementing such a single-sign-on is too complex for us to offer at this time. Sorry.
Additional Information
The below information is optional. Your Real Name, if entered below, will not be visible publicly. Check or uncheck the newsletter box as you see fit.
