ASL Celebrates Sixth Issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies

On April 24, 2013, American Studies Leipzig celebrated the release of the sixth issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies. The new issue is dedicated to "American Memories," featuring four academic articles, seven pieces of art, and an interview with Monica Michelin from the Sorbonne. The published contributions came from six different countries (USA, France, Germany, the UK, Canada and Poland), but submissions were sent in from many more countries.

ASL celebrates fith issue of aspeers

On 18 April 2012, American Studies Leipzig celebrated the release of the fifth issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies, Europe’s first and currently only peer-reviewed graduate journal in American studies. In her welcoming words, Prof. Anne Koenen thanked Officer for Public Affairs, Teta M. Moehs for the continuing cooperation between American Studies Leipzig and the United States Consulate in Leipzig.

On 18 April 2012, 5 p.m., American Studies Leipzig will celebrate the release of the fifth issue of aspeers: emerging voices in american studies, Europe’s first and currently only peer-reviewed graduate journal in American studies. The publication project is part of American Studies Leipzig’s MA program. Over the course of the last semester, an editing team of four MA students has worked to select contributions, revise them together with the authors, edit them, and make them ready for publication.

ASL Celebrates Release of Fourth Issue of aspeers

On Tuesday, 19 April 2011, American Studies Leipzig celebrated the release of the fourth issue of the graduate journal aspeers. Among the 30 guests who joined the launch ceremony at the Albertina were ASL faculty and students as well as this year's editors and friends and three contributors to this issue. In her introductory speech, Prof. Anne Koenen praised the project as a unique feature within the European university landscape and thanked editor in chief Sebastian Herrmann for his outstanding and committed work on the project.

aspeers Calls for Contributions by 31 October 2010

aspeers has just published its new Calls for Papers. As of its fourth issue, aspeers will contain both a general and a topical section. The general section will showcase various outstanding academic work done on the MA level of American studies at European universities. The topical section will feature academic and art submissions organized around the theme of "Nature and Technology, Revisited."

ASL celebrates aspeers 3 release

The third issue of aspeers has been released this Monday, April 19. About 30 people, among them Consul for Public Affairs James Seward of the US Consulate Leipzig, came to celebrate the event. After short speeches by Professor Anne Koenen and the seminar instructor Sebastian M. Herrmann, the editors received certificates documenting their accomplishments, and one of this year's contributors, Anton Hieke (Halle), came to pick up his personal copy of the journal.

Graduate journal aspeers calls for submissions

The Leipzig-based graduate journal aspeers calls for submissions by graduate students (MA- or equivalent levels) of European American Studies and related fields by October 31 (November 14 for creative submissions).

The American Studies Leipzig based graduate journal aspeers has been selected for a special program that makes the first two issues available on amazon.com. The printing company's decision to offer the volumes over amazon underscores the growing recognition the project is receiving.
