Photo Exhibition Opening: Study Tour Houston 2013

Please join us for the opening of the photo exhibition capturing the 2013 ASL study tour "Immigration, Religion, and Citizenship" to Houston.

The photo exhibition will be opened on June 23, 5 pm, Zentrales Hörsaalgebäude, 2nd Floor, Leipzig University, and will be on display until June 30, 2014.

On Thursday, a group of ASL students and Prof. Hartmut Keil will travel to Houston for a study tour titled "Immigration, Religion, and Citizenship." They will share their experiences on a blog under http://studytourhouston2013.wordpress.com/. The ASL students are joined by 4 students from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.


Prof. Stephen Klineberg talked at ASL about the "Changing Face of Houston"

On June 14, 2012, Prof. Stephen Klineberg from Rice University gave a Fulbright Lecture at American Studies Leipzig. In his talk, Prof. Klineberg gave insight into his research with the Houston Area Survey at the Kinder Institute for Urban Research. ASL Shows Houston Study Tour Impressions

"Volunteerism, Diversity, and Civic Engagement"


On June 6, American Studies Leipzig inaugurated a photo exhibition on its 2006 study tour to Houston, Texas. About 60 guests joined ASL for the reception and screening of the film. Showing 60 photos taken by the students, the exhibition covers various themes of the tour. The photos are on display until June 20th in the GWZ Foyer (Beethovenstraße 15).

ASL and Deutsche Bank Leipzig Open Houston Photo Exhibition

Today, April 23, American Studies Leipzig and the Deutsche Bank have opened a photo exhibition of a 2006 Study Tour to Houston. The Deutsche Bank's main branch in Leipzig (Martin-Luther-Ring) has generously agreed to host the photo exposition put together by American Studies Leipzig students. In a brief ceremony, Mike Röseler of the Deutsche Bank and Hartmut Keil formally inaugurated the exhibition at 5pm.

Deutsche Bank's main branch in Leipzig (Martin-Luther-Ring) has generously agreed to host a photo exposition put together by American Studies Leipzig students that emerges from their study tour to Houston during September 2006. The theme of the study tour and photo exhibit is "Volunteerism, Diversity, and Civic Engagement". It looks at the religious, ethnic, and myriad of other factors shaping America’s dynamic culture of civic volunteerism, or grass-roots community activism.
