ASL Event Committee Annual 4th of July BBQ

BART Bash

American Studies Leipzig will host the third Research Bash, an informal event with snacks and soda in which two of the institute‘s scholars discuss both their present research interests and their scholarly biography. The speaker's will be Prof. Dr. Hartmut Keil and Sebastian M. Herrmann, MA.

For the next Fulbright Lecture (Tuesday, June 28, 5 pm), American Studies Leipzig is pleased to welcome Joshua C. Davis (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill/Universität Hamburg) . He will talk about "Cold-War Rap: How the Consumer Culture of Hip Hop Came to 1980s West Germany." The lecture will take place at NSG Room 402.

Your Talent for Guatemala

Together with the non-profit organization Mirador e.V. one of this year’s American Studies Leipzig Service Learning groups will host the talent show "YOUR TALENT FOR GUATEMALA" to raise funds for the current project of Mirador e.V. - the building of a medical clinic in a remote alpine region in Guatemala.

ASL Book Club

In literature there is always more than meets the eye. A large, supporting, significant part of the iceberg unseen at the first glance. Therefore, the ASL Book Club‘s aim is to provide a space for students to meet, share thoughts, and discuss works significant to US culture, politics and society. Thereby it offers students a chance to expand their horizons and take a look beneath the surface of influential works.
