Am 4. November finden die „Midterm Elections“ statt, in denen 33 Sitze im Senat und alle 435 Sitze im Repräsentantenhaus neu vergeben werden.

Obwohl man es vielleicht auf den ersten Blick nicht immer bemerkt – Leipzig hat eine lange Geschichte des Kontakts mit verschiedenen Formen ‘schwarzer’ Kultur. Diese Vielfältigkeit reicht von Leipzigs Erbe als wichtiges Handelszentrum kolonialer Güter über Doktorarbeiten mit ‘schwarzen’ Themen (wie ‘schwarzer’ Musik um 1900) bis hin zum Interesse der DDR an afroamerikanischen und anderen Minderheitenkulturen als Projektionsfläche für ganz unterschiedliche Sehnsüchte.

Join us for the first event of this semester‘s Fulbright Film Screening with the all-time classic Blade Runner (1982). Blade Runner an American dystopian science fiction film directed
by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos. The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in November 2019 in which genetically engineered organic robots called replicants are visually indistinguishable from adult humans.
