Every year, the Institute for American Studies Leipzig, in collaboration with American Space Leipzig, organizes a workshop for teachers.

This year, the workshop will take place on 3 December 2015 at the Institute for American Studies Leipzig (Room: 2516) and address the “American Dream”.

The “American Dream” is a concept known around the world, acting as a beacon drawing over a million immigrants a year to America during the last decade. It stands for achieving your personal dream of individual freedom and economic security. American politics centers around how state and society can encourage change to allow ever more citizens and immigrants to achieve their American Dream. Globalization and other forms of societal change have made the American Dream however seem much more complicated to achieve. To understand contemporary America and its role in the world, it is necessary to understand the concepts, challenges and opportunities of the American Dream in the 21st century.
