ASL Welcomes Entering Classes of 2014

Submitted by Carlo Becker on Thu, 10/09/2014 - 15:10

Once again, American Studies Leipzig is delighted to welcome its entering BA and MA classes. In 2014, the BA cohort consists of about 40 students. While some of them have decided to study at ASL because of a general interest in the history, society, and literature of the United States, others were motivated by their desire to learn about transatlantic politics and cultural exchange. Introducing themselves and their interests during the orientation events, a number of them also pointed out that they picked Leipzig's BA program because they were looking for new intellectual challenges. This year's entering MA class once again brings together students with German and international backgrounds.

During orientation, the students received help with organizing their schedules, took a tour at the Bibliotheca Albertina, and learned about study abroad and internship opportunities. Moreover, the ASL Event Committee and the Fachschaftsrat (student council) introduced themselves to the group. At the end of the event—and despite some rain—students and staff enjoyed the traditional barbeque where they could get to know each other a little better.

As in previous years, the institute thanks the volunteers of the ASL Event Committee for their generous help at the student orientation!
