U.S. Ambassador Philip D. Murphy invites you to join him in a townhall meeting for students where he looks forward to discussing his goals in Germany and engaging in a lively exchange of ideas about German-American relations.

Biographical Information:

President Obama has selected Philip D. Murphy to be America‘s new ambassador to Germany. Ambassador Murphy has extensive experience in Germany, including being the director of Goldman Sachs‘ Frankfurt office. After leaving Goldman Sachs, Ambassador Murphy served as the National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2006-2009. Ambassador Murphy is a member of the executive board of Atlantik Brücke, a leading transatlantic organization encouraging German-American cooperation. Ambassador Murphy has devoted substantial time to civic and community affairs, including serving on the boards and/or committees of the NAACP and the Center for American Progress. Soccer is a particular passion for the Murphy family. Ambassador Murphy has served on the board of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and he was a driving force in bringing a professional women‘s soccer franchise to New Jersey.
