 International Symposium on "Hemispheric Encounters"

Submitted by Claudia Müller, MA on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 15:50

Next week, American Studies Leipzig holds the international symposium "Hemispheric Encounters: The Early United States in a Transnational Perspective."

On April 26th and 27th, fifteen scholars from the US, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany meet and discuss the formation and consolidation of national and collective identities in the early United States and how in the decades after the American Revolution US American culture and literature as well as identity constructions were formed by such "hemispheric encounters."

For more information on the symposium, its participants, and their presentations, please consult the symposium's homepage: www.hemispheric-encounters.de

Students and colleagues who are interested in the subject matter are cordially invited to join our symposium.

The symposium is organized by ASL Professor Gabriele Pisarz-Ramírez and Dr. Markus Heide, Assistant Professor at Humboldt-Universität Berlin.
