ASL Book Club Meets To Discuss "Everything is Illuminated" on Feb. 8

Submitted by Richard A. Bachmann on Sun, 01/08/2012 - 14:27

The first book the ASL Book Club will discuss in 2012 is Jonathan Safran Foer's Everything is Illuminated. The novel, published in 2002, was Foer's first one. It generated widespread interest among literary circles and was praised by a variety of critics. Everything is Illuminated is a story about a young Jewish-American, who has the same name as the author. He travels to the Ukraine to investigate his grandfather`s story and thereby learns about his family's past. Foer touches on various themes in this novel and opens a wide field of fears, memories and responsibility that play a significant role for the Jewish-American experience.

The Book Club session will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 5 pm at Kapitaldruck, a reading café and bookstore on Roßplatz 11, 04103 Leipzig.
