Submitted by Tobias Schlobach, MA on Tue, 03/31/2015 - 21:32

On March 20-21, 2015, ASL Assistant Lecturer Anne Grob presented the Teaching America Portal to an interested audience of teachers from Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. Hosted by the U.S. Embassy Berlin, the Landesinstitut für Schulqualität und Lehrerbildung Sachsen-Anhalt (LISA), the Thüringer Institut für Lehrerfortbildung, Lehrplanentwicklung und Medien, as well as the Institute for British and American Studies at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, the workshop for teachers centered on various aspects of American culture, featuring talks and hands-on study groups on diverse topics such as American reality television, young adult literature, and intercultural communication. In her talk, Ms. Grob introduced the online portal and illustrated how teachers can utilize the resources and lesson plans developed by students in the Teaching America seminar to strengthen and enhance their existing teaching formats and increasingly incorporate new media into the classroom.
